Slate Asset Management: Call for Artists
Congratulations to Drawing and Painting 21’ grad Charlotte Healey and Kathryn Greenwood on receiving the inaugural Slate Asset Management Career Launcher. Earlier in 2021, Slate invited artists to submit medium to large scale pieces to be displayed in their 2 St. Clair West location.
Charlotte Healey (Canadian b. 1989) is an emerging contemporary painter and printmaker living in Toronto. Although her artistic focus is always in flux, an undercurrent of emotional urgency, representational ambiguity, and tongue-in-cheek run through her practice. For the time being, she continues to attempt works that teeter between humorous and tragic. Accepted into the MFA program at the New York Studio School, Charlotte will begin the next chapter in her creative career starting this September.
Charlotte’s work will remain on display at 2 St. Clair West until the end of January 2022.
Kathryn is a multidisciplinary artist based in Lekwungen Territory/Victoria, BC. Her work reflects a reverence for the natural environment, and her paintings are abstract, visual responses to experiences with and within nature. Often referencing places and species she encounters around coastal BC, her work is inspired by natural forms on the micro and macro scale. Her recent work explores the experience of nature through a cognitive lens and attempts to illuminate attentional biases we may apply to plant life. Kathryn recently completed her BFA in Drawing and Painting at OCAD University (2021), and her work has been exhibited in Toronto and Victoria. She has also been featured in publications by CBC Arts and The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Kathryn is represented by Sweetpea Gallery.
Kathryn’s work will remain on display at 2 St. Clair West until the end of July 2022.
In spring 2021, OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers was excited to announce a call for artists in partnership with Slate Asset Management. Slate Asset Management was seeking proposals for a rotating public art exhibit that would animate the lobby of 2 St. Clair West in the Yonge St. + St. Clair Avenue West community. Slate welcomed artists, working in all mediums to submit proposals. Slate was seeking medium to large-scale pieces to be displayed on two walls in the lobby. Slate’s rotating art program will occur two times a year.
