/edition Art Book Fair
 and the Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers were excited to announce the OCAD U Career Launcher at the /edition Art Book Fair 2021 from October 29 to 31, 2021.

Emerging bookmakers, photographers, publishers, printmakers, artist’s multiple-makers and ephemera-enthusiasts were invited to submit an application for a free half-booth where you could sell editioned prints, books, or other artworks to a growing audience of artists, curators, collectors, and book-lovers.

ARTISTS




Helen Tran

Born and raised in Vietnam, Helen Tran has always been naturally drawn towards creating art. She soon later found her passion for the uniqueness of Printmaking. Tran pursue her education in Visual and Creative Arts at Sheridan College, Oakville and completed a BFA degree in Printmaking & Publication with a minor in Photography. 

As a multidisciplinary artist, Tran is well versed in many printing techniques; including lithography, relief, silkscreen, and intaglio.


Jessica Huynh

Jessica, also known as Very Berry. T is a Chinese-Canadian based creative that works with both illustration and graphic design. She loves sweet desserts, vtubers, and anything anime related! As an independent creator, she have had the opportunity to join many other creators in conventions and fairs such as Fan Expo Canada, Canzine, /edition TO and many more!
She is  also the co-creator of the Dirty Laundry Collective along side Beige Blum (@IcedTaho)

Melanie L. Yan

Melanie Lixiyue Yan was born and raised in mainland China and came to Toronto when she was an emo teenager wearing too much eyeliner, Melanie Lixiyue Yan now works as an emerging illustrator/comic artist, while camouflaging as a graphic designer. 

MICK (Agnes Wong & Varvara Nedilska)

MICK is an ongoing collaborative passion project created in 2019 between artist and illustrator Varvara Nedilska, and multidisciplinary designer Agnes Wong.

(Self) described as: "an international man of mystery and style. Loves his Balenciagas and probably can't hear you through his Airpods. Mick is everyone's friend". Mick is an unpredictable character whose daily lifestyle and interests reflects that of people we probably know in our own lives. 


Nancy Zhang

Nancy is a mix media illustrator and designer from Toronto who has a passion for making images that communicate music and sound visually. Their work covers a wide range of digital and analogue applications, where that mostly draw their deep connection with music and performance, as well as their drive to find new ways to manipulate familiar materials. 

Nomi Juhasz

Nomi Juhasz; a queer, non binary, ceramicist and textile artist in Montréal, Québec. They are a recent graduate from OCAD University, and recipient of the Tucker’s Ceramic Award.

As Nomi continue to expand their practice, they intends to continue exploring how created objects can mirror human experiences of comfort, isolation, and memory; and how by blending forms, they can communicate ideas which feel fresh and personal. 

Olivia Mae Sinclair

Olivia Mae Sinclair is a textile-book artist. Her intuitive and trauma-based practice is guided by sloppy craftand imperfection She is addicted to infatuation and Redbull.  She is a maker of books, love and other grotesque things.She is addicted to infatuation and Redbull. She is a maker of books, love and other grotesque things.

She has recently graduated from OCAD University's Interdisciplinary Master's in Art, Media and Design program. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Craft and Design at Sheridan College.

Rui Cao

Rui was born in China, now living around Toronto, Canada with her cat, Tachi. Watercolour, ink, and color pencils are the most used traditional media in my works, she also works with digital art.

Currently an undergraduate student at OCAD University, on her way to becoming a freelance and book illustrator in the future.

/edition Art Book Fair is produced annually in tandem with Art Toronto (Canada’s International Art Fair), and is dedicated to the promotion of art book publishing in all forms and artworks created in editions. /editions Art Book Fair champions forward-thinking projects by artists, publishers, galleries, and organizations who share a similar mission to advance and strengthen Canadian and international art book initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS 

  • OCAD U students in their 3rd or final year in any program at the undergraduate level and any year at the Master’s level, or recent alumni (who graduated in 2020 or 2021).
  • Preference will be given to submissions with a multiples/objects focused practice.
  • Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received a Career Launcher opportunity.
