Details
Brandon Hurtado Sandler explores weaving, sewing, machine knits, silversmith, soldering, forge, cast jewellery, and fabric printing/dyeing. Blurring the lines between art, craft and design is the end goal with Hurtado-Sandler’s works. Using self-portraiture to display objects made, he explores the construction of the ‘self’.
Ellie Sandbacka is a fourth year thesis student at OCADU. Studying both jewellery and textiles in the Material Arts and Design program. She has a love for illustration, and often converts her original drawings in to fabrics which she uses in the making of clothing. Ellie strives to produce bold and fun clothing. Ellie has a clothing brand under the name ELLIE SANDBACKA which is made up of modern and unique men’s and women’s wear. After graduation she intends to pursue her love of fashion with her brand.

INLAND and the Centre for Emerging Artists and Designers (CEAD) are excited to announce Brandon Hurtado-Sandler and Ellie Sandbacka as the recipients of the INLAND Career Launcher; exclusively for OCAD U Material Art & Design students and recent graduates. Brandon and Ellie will both receive complimentary retail display space at the upcoming INLAND Toronto show, September 27 & 28.
