Youth Fusion is excited to welcome Environment Design graduate Mary-Anne Garcia to join the team as the Environmental Design Coordinator. In this position, Mary-Anne will develop creative, conceptual and social skills in environmental design and sustainable development with junior high school students. By setting up activities, workshops and interactive tours, Mary-Anne will guide the youth through the steps of making an environmental design project, from concept to realization. Mary-Anne's work aims to make youth aware of the environment around them and gets them to develop plausible solutions to local, social, and environmental issues.
The position is supported by the Career Launchers program from OCAD University's Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers.
Founded in 2009 in Montreal, Youth Fusion aims to lower high school dropout rates by creating closer links between schools and the community. The charity works closely with schools, businesses and university graduates to create projects for students in 11 different fields including Arts and Culture, Environmental Design and Robotics. It reports that each week it works with 15,000 youth in over 250 schools in rural, urban and Indigenous communities.
