OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION
OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers is excited to announce
a recruited placement in partnership with Reel Asian for the role of a Graphic Designer. The Graphic Designer will be mainly responsible for assisting in the art direction, execution of design and production of digital and physical marketing campaign assets, and
digital festival assets as well as supporting other marketing duties as needed under the management of the Director of Creative Marketing and Communications.
The role is a hybrid position of remote work, in-office hours, and additional evenings and weekends for events.
Founded in 1997, the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival (Reel Asian) is a unique showcase of contemporary Asian cinema. As Canada’s largest pan-Asian film festival, ReelAsian provides a public forum for Asian media artists and their work and fuels the growing appreciation for Asian cinema in Canada. In addition to the annual film festival, Reel Asian organizes year-round programming and educational initiatives in partnership with local schools and arts organizations around the GTA. Reel Asian will be celebrating its 28th annual festival with an in-person and online edition in November 2024.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Graphic Designer will assist the Marketing Manager in producing marketing campaign materials, including the annual film festival programme guide, social media assets, and merchandise. Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Design marketing assets such as programme guide, social media graphics, website materials, newsletter template, screening presentation assets, postcards
- Create and manage flow of ads, and other design files
- Coordinating production of physical marketing assets
- Create motion graphics and other assets for videos, live online events
- Other graphic design duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current OCAD U students in any discipline enteringtheir final year at the Undergraduate level or any year at the Master’s level.Recent OCAD U grads (2023, 2024) at the Undergraduate level or Master’s level.
- An interest in film festivals and cinema would be considered an asset
- Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received a Career Launcher opportunity
- Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator (intermediate level or above)
- Video editing and motion graphics
- Familiarity with Mail-chimp and social platform specs
- Ability to work under changing conditions and tight timelines
- Team player
- Organized and self-motivated
- Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends during festival and special events
