OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

C Magazine, established in 1984, is a contemporary art and criticism periodical that functions as a forum for significant ideas in art and its contexts. Each issue explores a theme that is singularly engaged with emerging and prevailing perspectives through original art writing, criticism, and artist projects. Our content focuses on the activities of contemporary art practitioners residing in Canada and Canadian practitioners living abroad—with an emphasis on those from Black, Indigenous, diasporic, and other equity-owed communities—as well as on international practices and dialogues. We are committed to facilitating meaningful, pluralistic, interdisciplinary, historically engaged, and imaginative conversations about art.

OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers is excited to announce a recruited placement in partnership with C Magazine for the role of Editorial and Programs Assistant. The Editorial and Programs Assistant will join C Magazine’s team to support crucial activities including editorial assistance for print and online platforms, public programming and partnerships, and related communications. This is a fantastic opportunity for applicants interested in building conceptual and practical knowledge within a small arts non-profit and learning about how a contemporary art magazine is run—as well as its relevant programs that aim to present art ideas and activate writing in considered, flexible, and playful ways.
